Workshop on Kolhoz-Era Foods
What did people eat when all they could find at shops was pig tails and cow udders? What was on the everyday table? What did people eat on special occasions?
We invite kitchen and food lovers to participate in the activities of a Soviet housewife in the kitchen, such as setting up a coffee table for guests or preparing a Sunday lunch for the family.
We prepare forgotten Soviet-era dishes and try out kitchen technology of the time. We set a table appropriate to the era and savour the food, which despite the hardships, tastes delicious.
While the dishes are cooking, we take a guided tour of the house, learning about Soviet-era food trends and curiosities.
